Professional Lot & Land Clearing LaSalle, Ottawa & Princeton, IL
Overgrown lot, unwanted trees or a property choked with brush? Korte Tree Service clears trees, brush and woody growth from residential and commercial properties in La Salle and across the Illinois Valley.
Lot and Land Clearing by a Tree Service Company
Clearing a property is mostly tree work. The job is to take down the trees that are in the way, cut out the brush and woody growth, deal with what has already fallen, and leave the ground open for whatever comes next. That is the work Korte Tree Service does. We have served customers in La Salle and across the Illinois Valley since 1988, we are licensed and insured, and estimates are free.

What We Clear
Overgrown lots
A lot that has been left alone for a few years fills in quickly with saplings, brush and vines. We cut and clear that growth so the property can be seen, walked and used again.
Unwanted trees
Trees standing where a building, driveway, yard or open space is planned, and volunteer trees that have come up along fences, foundations and property lines.
Brush and woody growth
Thickets, scrub, shrubs gone wild and the small woody stems that make an area impossible to get through or mow.
Dead and fallen trees
Standing dead trees, trees that have come down and been left, and the limbs and trunks lying on the ground from past storms.
Around structures and access
Growth crowding a house, garage or outbuilding, and trees and brush closing in on a driveway, lane or entrance.
Selective Clearing or Clearing the Whole Area
Clearing does not have to mean taking everything. Many owners want the brush and poor trees gone and the good trees kept. Others need a defined area opened up completely. Both are common, and the difference matters to the price and to how the work is done.
- Selective clearing removes brush, dead wood and chosen trees and leaves the trees you want to keep.
- Full clearing removes the trees and woody vegetation from a marked-out area.
Trees that are staying can also be cleaned up with trimming and pruning once the growth around them is gone.
What to Identify Before Work Begins
A clearing job goes better when a few things are settled first. Before we start, it helps to know:
- The boundaries. Where your property ends and what area is to be cleared.
- What stays. Any trees, plantings or features you want left alone, marked clearly.
- What is hidden. Old fences, wire, posts, wells, foundations, junk and anything else buried in the growth.
- What is underground or overhead. Lines, pipes, septic systems and overhead wires in or near the area.
- What the land will be used for. Lawn, a building, a drive or simply open ground. It affects what should be cut and how low.
- Any rules that apply. If you think permits or local requirements may apply to your property, check before work is scheduled.
How a Clearing Job Works
1. We look at the property
We walk the area with you, see what is growing there and how big the job is, and give you a free estimate.
2. We agree on what goes and what stays
Trees and brush to be removed are identified, and anything to be kept is pointed out or marked.
3. We plan access
We work out how to get crew and equipment in and where to set up without damaging what is staying.
4. We remove the trees and woody growth
Trees are taken down and brush is cut. Larger trees near buildings, fences or lines are removed with the same care as any other tree removal.
5. We talk about stumps and debris
Cutting leaves stumps behind. Whether they are ground, and how brush and wood are dealt with, can be discussed during the estimate.

Access and Site Considerations
How a property is cleared depends on how we can reach it. Gate and lane widths, slopes, wet or soft ground, ditches and how close the growth is to buildings and neighboring properties all affect the approach. Dense growth can also hide hazards, which is one reason we look at the site in person before pricing it.
What Affects the Cost of Lot and Land Clearing
We do not quote clearing prices without seeing the property. The price depends on:
- Size of the area to be cleared.
- Number and size of trees.
- Density of the growth.
- Access for crew and equipment.
- Terrain. Slopes and soft ground slow the work.
- Nearby structures, fences and lines.
- Stump work, if you want stumps ground.
- Complexity of the job overall, including how much is to be kept.
Estimates are free, and you will know the price before you decide.
Clearing, Tree Removal and Stump Grinding
Lot clearing is closely related to our other services. If you only have one or two trees to take down, that is ordinary tree removal. Once trees have been cut, stump grinding takes the stumps below ground level so the area can be mowed or used. Stump grinding does not remove the whole root system. This page covers tree and brush clearing; excavation, grading and earthmoving are separate work.
Residential and Commercial Properties
We clear residential lots, back lots and overgrown yards, and we clear trees and brush on commercial properties. Tell us what the property is and what you want it to be, and we will tell you what we can do.
